Stopping in Belgrade, Serbia on our way to Montenegro

January 8-9, 2023

Belgrade

Said a sad good -bye to the kids,  who stayed at the condo as their flights were not unil the afternoon.

Loaded all our bags into the taxi to the airport.

Happy to be on Air France where we had some nice French red wine, its been a long time! lol

Belgrade

A guy from the hotel picked us up from the airport and drove us to the hotel which was in the centre of Belgrade.

Everything seems desolate and grey,

We found out that it was still Orthodox Christmas. Orthodox Christians follow the Julian calendar and mark the festival on January 7 instead. Therefore everything was closed and shit down.

It was also really damp and cold which was a bit of a shock. Not sure what I was expecting but I didn't really have a lot of time to research this area before we got on a plane and landed here!

Belgrade is the capital of the southeast European country of Serbia. Its most significant landmark is the Beogradska Tvrđava, an imposing fortress at the confluence of the Danube and the Sava rivers. The fort is a testament to the city’s strategic importance to the Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, Serbian and Austrian empires, and it's now the site of several museums as well as Kalemegdan, a vast park.

Serbia numbers around 7 million residentes. Its capital, Belgrade, ranks among the oldest and largest cities in southeastern Europe.

Our hotel room was ridicously small. We could not even walk in the room.
