Dog sitting on Rover and Christmas holidays
Mount Doug or the new name for it is Pkols. It’s a culturally significant site for the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations, and the new name honors the traditional Lekwungen language and heritage. Hiking up Pkols where breathtaking views and cultural heritage meet on the West Coast!
I decided I would like to try dogsitting on Rover. Andrea and Ryan did it when they lived in Kingston and seemed like a good way to get my dog kisses in while making money at the same time!! I didn't realize how busy I would be as so many peopel were looking for dog sitters over the Christmas holidays and I was not charging exorbitant fees!
First dog sit on Rover - LUCY
I had a return customer.
Day 2 with Lucy. Her mom was a travelling nurse and worked long hours. This dog had a lot of energy. We took her on the harbour ferry! 😂
One things to love about Victoria, is that you can walk, hike, play golf or boat all winter long. We had so much fun on the haroubr ferries with Lucy, that we decided to take our good friends Michael and Moria. Spent the whole days hiking, and brunching.
Dog #2- Rufus - such a little cutie and still just a puppy.
Out and about with Rufus.
Visitng my favourite dog, Milo and taking him for a walk. I think he still remembers me!
Lunch with Tom and Antonio. Took a day off with dogs and focuse don people! lol The Blue Fox Cafe is always a popular spot.
Hiking up Mount Doug/ Pkols with Michael and Moira then spending the rest of the morning at brunch!
Dog Number 3 - Luna
This was a funny one. This couple who were fairly new to Victoria contacted me on Rover. They were going away over Christmas to Australia and needed someone to take care of their Australian Kelpie. They were going to be away for almost a month!!! They came over so we could all meet over coffee and it turns out their kids go to the same school as ours and our daughter and their son are in the same grade and know each other. Such a small world. So we took on the task of bringing Luna into our family for Christmas and we were so glad we did and she weas probably one of the smartest and best dog we have ever known (except for the barking while we were walking) 😆
We take her to all of our favourite places: Dallas Road, Mount Doug, Cattle Point, Thetis Lake and of course Paws on Cook so she can choose her own toy.
Dallas Road Dog Walk
Mount Doug/Pkols
Luna likes watching the squirrels in the back yard. Keeps her entertained for hours.
Cattle Point
This is where we would come all the time to launch our boat when it wasn't at the Royal Vic Yacht Club. Ah memories of salmon fishing.
Thetis Lake
Out for dinner with a catch up with the ladies
Luna finds an octopus on Dallas Road
Luna heard a drone way before we saw or heard it. She would not stop until she found it.
Christmas Eve - We have appetizer and everyone gets to open one gift. Andrea is the chacuterie queen.
Christmas dinner with the family
Boxing day walk to Beacon Hill Park. Try to alk off all the turke dinner from last night. Luna was quite interested in the ducks. We saw the Moss Lady for the first time.
Our tradition of having Boxing Day at the McElroy's continues.
